A is for Astrology - A to Z Challenge

Welcome to day 1 of my A-to-Z blogging challenge! Nearly every day this month, I’ll be writing a new blog post. Yep, that’ll keep me busy!

Speaking of busy, I’ve been working on a project recently. It’s a novel for Crescent Moon Press’s Sabian Symbols signature line. I sent the first official draft of my book to my publisher Friday night!

My new book's tag line:
In a Zodiac-based world, finding a mate is easy.
Falling in love is the hard part.
The story takes place in a world that believes strongly in astrology. It was fun to write, but a challenge to research. I relied heavily on the expertise of my husband, John. He’s been studying astrology for years and can actually make sense of those scary-looking natal charts!

There are so many facets to astrology, I had plenty of ways to explore what I thought this fictional astrological world looked like. People’s charts could determine everything from where they would live to their chosen careers. The most interesting aspect to me was the idea of a council that determined your best romantic match based purely on how well two people’s astrology charts matched with one another.

What are your views on astrology? And if such a world as I described existed, how would it be different from this one?

  2. I don't personally put too much stock in astrology, but sometimes I'm surprised by how much it can seem to correlate to my life. I'd like to dismiss a lot of the Scorpio-isms, but the truth is, a lot of the characteristics match up! Story-wise, it would give you a lot to work with since you can use a mix of truth blended with fiction.

Good luck with the A to Z challenge!

    1. It was fun to work with for a story. I was able to pattern the characters after the typical astrological signs, and add in whatever I needed to in order to make the story work.
      Good luck to you too!

  5. I don't know enough to either believe or disbelieve. I tend to read horoscopes in magazines, but I realise it's not the same!

    1. It gets really interesting once you learn about your moon sign and rising sign. The sun sign is the one everyone knows. But add in the rest and you'd be surprised at how specific it gets.
      Thanks for stopping by!
